Hit the Ground Running

Over the weekend I received several emails from parents who're having difficulty posting their response to Friday's post, as blogger.com will not allow them to post without an established account with a user name. If you have a gmail email account, then you may use your email address and password from that to log into blogger and post responses. If you have neither a gmail account or a blogger account, then go here to establish you own blogger account.

The first post should be a response (either to this post or to the former) detailing who you are, who your child is, and a little bit about yourself. The response can be brief, just so long as the essentials are there.

Remember: this site is meant to become a community where teacher and parents can communicate about their children and what is going on in class/in school. With that in mind, I expect the utmost civility in your posts and responses. If you are upset about something I will be more than happy to work with you through the issue, and I'm confident that in time, this online community will also support you.

Someone had asked in an email what type of teaching blog this is intended to be. A list of the types can be found here. This would most likely fall into the professional teacher blog category, although the coursework for this blog will likely lack any formal grading.

Someone had also asked whether or not their students will be able to read the posts and responses on this blog. At present: yes, your students will be able to view the posts and responses, much like you will be able to view their's when they begin their own class blog. If you all find this to be unfavorable, please post a response to this saying so, and I will make adjustments accordingly.

This blog is still in its early phases and should be considered a work in progress.
